I first met Kyle Rowland, when he was 10 years old and his father brought him to my house for a harmonica lesson. Even way back then, his enormous sound and the utter ferocity of his attack were startling.

Twenty plus years and countless gigs later, the raw abandon remains while his skills, instrumentally, vocally, and as a songwriter, now match his huge natural talent.

On this, his introductory Little Village Foundation release, material ranges from country blues to raw southern soul and even some surprising pop. He has put together a batch of songs are that are simultaneously deeply personal and absolutely relatable.

Not Holding Back showcases not only his massive harp sound and soaring vocals, but he also plays killer lowdown guitar on a couple cuts and even takes a piano solo on Fillmore Slim’s “You Got the Nerve of a Monkey”.

Based in Sacramento, CA with roots in rural GA, over the past ten years Kyle has driven himself and his blues all across this continent, from Maine to Mexico. Now with this Little Village release, the world at large can experience Kyle Rowland – straight from his soul to your heart.

Simultaneously raw and sensitive, both subtle and explosive, Kyle Rowland’s “Not Holding Back” anything! -Rick Estrin
